Unique fun wedding drinks – Our 5 top tips
We love to shoot at weddings where the couple have added their own unique and fun wedding drinks with their own personal touches. As a result we thought we’d gather together 5 of our top tips for planning your wedding drinks we’ve seen over the years.
Unique fun wedding drinks that guests will remember!
You may be getting married at a venue which is a ‘shell’ therefore you can add your own ideas or it could even be a garden marquee wedding where you have the complete flexibility to shape your wedding day and create unique fun wedding drinks of your own. Furthermore, one of the main perks of this approach is you will have full control of your drinks (but always ask if there is a corkage charge!) and having full reign to pick what ever you like. Everyone enjoys a good knees up! and your guests will love these ideas. We hope these tips help you open up your choices and add a personal touch to your day.
Create a one-of-a-kind beer for your wedding
We have had the pleasure in meeting several bride and grooms who wanted to share their love of their favourite drinks with guests weather it’s a beer, wine or cocktail.
You may even wish to create your own! One of our grooms approached their local favourite brewery who was happy to help create a local custom beer dedicated do his best friend Jimmy. He even made his own label! It’s was a great talking point with guests.
Signature cocktails that tell your unique story
One of our brides decided to add a personal touch by using signature cocktails. She created her favourites that represented a special memories for them both. In our experience these make a great alternative to a champagne reception on arrival, as a bit more fun and personal. Also to keep guests from peaking too early we recommend getting some event staff in to serve and pace the flow of drinks!
Find unique local food and drink festivals for inspiration
If this sounds up your street we recommend you start local, it’s always easier and adds a local personal touch, perhaps from your local pub? For beers, take a look at the local breweries as they often cater for events. Alternatively plan a visit to some tasting events, you never know what you might discover and who you might meet. Last week we enjoyed a visit to the Stanley halls beer festival that showcased some brilliant local brews!
Bulk buying drinks for your drinks reception
If your thinking setting up your own bar, it’s not always about looking local. There nothing wrong with a trip to your local supermarket. They always have a deal on offer on now and then, so plan ahead and you will be surprised at how competitive the prices really are. There’s also the added added bonus of being able to take back any unopened boxes so make make sure you purchase close to the date! Some also offer free glass hire, which is a great to have them organise everything including free delivery to your event. If you’re looking to have a paid bar in the evening for guests, approach pubs local to your chosen venue and ask if they could set up the bar for you. A couple told us their local pub set this up free of charge and simply made their money from the drinks sales – this will take a lot of the organising off of your shoulders!
Try fun wine tasting sessions with a friendly, local expert
If your not much of wine connoisseur, we still value a visit to a wine wholesaler. You can get the expert advice on the what’s great this year and find find some brilliant deals. You can book a wine tasting session too and like the supermarkets, often give you the option to return unopened bottles.
Have fun with it!
It may seem a little daunting at first but looking for drinks to individualise your day is in our opinion one of the most fun tasks of planning unique wedding.
