Hi! I’m Katy, an eco conscious wedding photographer
London wedding photographer on the hunt for inspiration and sweet treats.
Your wedding photography is one of the key elements of your wedding day that has to be right. It’s what you will look back on to reminisce about your special day and all the wonderful people who were there to celebrate with you. Your photographer will be with you all day, and they’re probably the person you’ll see the most, so finding the right photographer is paramount. Here are my top tips on how to get the best from your wedding photography.
o1 - Meet With Your Photographer
It seems obvious but the first thing you must do before booking is meet with your photographer, whether that be face-to-face or via video call. Make sure you feel at ease and are comfortable with the person you have chosen, after all, you will be sharing some intimate moments with them. So, meet up, have a chat, look at their work and make sure that they are the right person for you and your partner.
o2 - Communicate Your Plan
Communication is key when it comes to the relationship between you and your photographer. Make sure they know the plan for the day and discuss where they will be and at what times. You can also ask their advice on parts of your plan so they can make suggestions, they will know exactly how weddings work, so it may be good to get their opinion. If the plan is communicated, then this ensures that none of your key moments are missed. See my approach page to see how I work with my couples.
o3 - Plan Your Must-Have Photographs
Don’t leave anything to chance when it comes to your ‘must have’ photographs. If you want groups shots, pictures with certain people and formal photographs then your photographer needs to know this. Making a list of the pictures you want means that you will not be disappointed when your wedding photography comes back. Chat with your photographer about this and listen to their ideas too. You don’t want to miss any must-have pictures, but you also don’t want to spend your whole day posing for photographs, so it’s about getting a happy balance.
o4 - Share Your Vision
Minimising our carbon footprint will have a huge impact on the planet, so is super important when you’re planning a more eco-friendly wedding. As an eco-friendly wedding photographer, public transport is my go-to. I only hire cars when I have to and I hire my photography equipment. As a thank you for booking me, I’ll donate £50 to the National Trust, which will plant 10 trees in celebration of your day. Trees breathe life into our world, and they are a vital part of tackling climate change!
